Biography
Professor François Mathieu-Potvin is a recognized teacher and researcher in the fields of thermal and thermodynamic system design modeling and optimization. Since 2014, he has been a professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Université Laval. Mr. Mathieu-Potvin began his academic career as a student at Université Laval, where he completed a bachelor's degree program in engineering physics (2003-2007) with the Rouge et Or distinction. He also worked as a research assistant during his undergraduate studies, which introduced him to various cutting-edge approaches to the numerical analysis of thermal systems. After graduating in Engineering Physics, in 2007 he began a combined master's-doctoral program in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Université Laval (2007-2014). His thesis project focused on modeling hydrogen fuel cells, a subject that enabled him to broaden his knowledge of multi-physics modeling and deepen his skills in numerical simulation. During his graduate studies, he also taught courses in applied thermodynamics, which explains his ongoing interest in teaching and research into thermodynamic cycles and energy conversion. Since 2014, Professor François Mathieu-Potvin has been pursuing research on a wide range of topics that reflect the diversity of his field.
